In 2007 my buddy Chris Thomas designed a blog for me. He even named it. He called it Hampton On. . . It was a place where I (Hampton) could share my thoughts on about anything that came to mind. My thoughts on Life, Sport, Faith, things that struck me as peculiar. Whatever. I primarily wanted to blog b/c the idea of having a permanent place where my kids could always go and see what their Dad was thinking on a given day intrigued me.
I blogged consistently for about a year and had a blast with it. Then I stopped and the reason I stopped is a true story. I write — quite candidly — about my life. What I’m currently experiencing. At the time I had a bet going with another buddy Daniel Tardy that I could beat him in a local 10k. I began training like a madman. It’s all I thought about. Therefore, it’s what I, naturally, would have written about. Problem was I couldn’t tip my hand to him. I couldn’t let him know what I was doing day to day so I didn’t blog. One day turned into 2 then a month and now 5 years. (Tardy beat me bad and won $200 off me in that race by the way)
Fast forward to last week. My daughters and I were doing what I had originally intended. They were reading through my blog posts from 5 years earlier. Some were funny, some created good conversation, others made me miss my friends at Dave Ramsey’s office. As we read through these I realized how much I enjoyed writing those posts. They made me laugh, they gave me an outlet to organize my thoughts and, occasionally, they were enjoyed by others.
So, I’ve decided that I’m going to start writing again. I’ve also decided that I’m going to stick with the same name that Chris gave it 5 years ago. Hampton On. . . it’s going to be the same blog. It will be my thoughts and observations about my life experiences.
You can expect raw. You can expect random. You can certainly expect this blog to look completely different in the future than it does today. For me, trying to figure out EXACTLY what to do has kept me from doing it for far too long. Thus the plain, standard, non-professional looking, stock photo blog. I’m positive that friends are going to tell me that I HAVE to create a better looking blog. I will in time. For now. . . I’m starting.
Here we go. . .
Welcome back buddy. This is inspiring!

Welcome home Bill Hampton, welcome home!
Thanks Smitty. Good to be back. Loved looking back through old posts and reading your insight into Saved By the Bell. No one knows it like you!
I miss my daily dose of HAMPTON. This should be good…
